This book author – David Pogrebisky, PhD, the former collaborator of Paton Welding Institute, UNIDO lecturer - has a large experience in scientific investigations, robotic welding, design and modernization of welding, electronic and electro-mechanical devices and metal joints, different constructions producing, restoration and inspection, including precision and thin-walled ones (tubes, jewelry & medical-biological goods, glass melting vessels, stainless autoclaves, membrane constructions, bellows, hydrogen filters, silencers for motor vehicles, pipelines, road building machines structures a.o.).

With the aim of international harmonization there are mentioned much more than 300 welding methods that were developed in the former Russia, USSR, modern Ukraine and Russia, in USA, England, Germany, France, Sweden, Japan, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, China, Australia, Brazil and many other countries. Some important terms, belonging to technological, supplementary-auxiliary and other definitions, are introduced too. They and welding methods names are given both in English & Russian.

An original conception - about 3 main factors that determine successful welding fulfillment - is proposed (Energy and Materials feeding; Environment; Timing). On its base there are shortly discussed some non-clear questions related to explanation of phenomenon of dissimilar metals joining by the so-called Cold Metal Transfer while GMAW and Solid State Welding modes. It is proposed the large class of Welding with Pressure Application divided into some sub-groups which greatly expands under given in the European Standards Pressure Welding. In particular, there are considered Welding with Compulsory Forming (comprising Electrogas Welding) and welding with Attendant Loading by Mechanical Force.

At first welding history is given in the form of the large table - against a background of mankind practice, its sciences progress from antique to our days. A several comparative, economic and other considerations are given too. It can, probably, help anybody to choose the optimal technologies and equipment for producing and repair the needed metal structure by such welding method or methods combinations that will be more reliable, cheap, suitable and ecologically safe.

The book may be useful for different welding specialists, industrial and materials engineers, designers of precision metal structures and various electro-mechanical devices as well as for students of relevant specialties. It will, probably, evoke the interest amidst beginners and amateurs that deal with electric technologies, thin materials joining, compact metal constructions producing and repair.
